When you’re in Pearson, Ontario, there are many things to see and do. You can visit Centennial Park and High Park, and you can even visit boutique shops. But if you’re pressed for time, here are some ideas to keep you busy and entertained.
Canada’s Wonderland
If you’re a fan of theme parks, you’ve probably visited Paramount Canada’s Wonderland in Pearson, Ont. The Paramount Canada’s Wonderland used to be located in Vaughan, Ontario, part of the Greater Toronto Area. However, the theme park closed in June 2017.
In addition to a large variety of rides, Canada’s Wonderland also boasts a water park called Splash Works. This 8-hectare (20-acre) water park features the largest outdoor wave pool in Canada and is included with admission to Canada’s Wonderland. In addition, it features a zero depth pool, new children’s slides, and a lazy river.
Canada’s Wonderland is located 1.5 km north of Vaughan Mills and 5.5 km from the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station. You can also take TTC Route 4A, which goes towards Vaughan Mills and Pine Valley. Another alternative route is the Major Mackenzie Drive, though it’s longer. Or, if you don’t want to drive to Pearson, you can take Route 85C north. But be aware that this route will take a bit more time and requires several transfers.
High Park
Prince Edward Island has hundreds of scenic hiking trails ranging from short under an hour to multi-day adventures. The island is also the setting for Anne of Green Gables, a famous Canadian novel set in the fictional town of Avonlea. High season runs from July to September.
One of the many activities to do in High Park is to attend a ceilidh, or kitchen party. The word “ceili” comes from Celtic and refers to a musical gathering. The Island was once covered with coastal Acadian forest. In 1937, the island was designated as a national park. The island’s diverse ecosystem includes forests, wetlands, sand dunes, and sand pits. The park is also home to many rare and endangered species, including the Piping Plover and the Saint Lawrence Aster.
Cavendish Beach is a part of the National Park, and is the home of the famous author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Fans of the novel will recognize the Silver Bush house and the “Lake of Shining Waters.” Visitors can enjoy the picturesque landscape while taking in the views of the ocean, which are perfect for photographing.
Cedar Dunes Provincial Park is an oasis of nature on the island. Famous for its wind-shaped dunes and red cliffs, this park is a popular destination for camping, birdwatching, and picnicking. Centennial Park

However, you should build in extra time to clear customs.
